Guadalajara, Mexico, think of it as a compact, walkable artisan town where you go to buy good pottery, blown glass and folk art and to sit for dinner while mariachi bands play in El Parian. Get there by Uber or taxi from Guadalajara since parking is limited and some streets are pedestrian-only; plan to arrive late afternoon so workshops are open and the evening atmosphere comes alive. Bring cash for small purchases and politely haggle at the stalls, avoid the souvenir rows if you want higher-quality pieces, and be cautious with valuables in crowded areas.
