Santa Catalina instantly became one of our favourite spots in Panama. This tiny surf town on the Pacific coast has a relaxed, off-the-beaten-path vibe that’s perfect for couples looking to unwind and connect with nature. It’s quiet, laid-back, and all about the ocean.
Things We Loved in Santa Catalina:
Surfing & Beaches – The waves here are world-class for surfers of all levels. We rented boards and spent hours riding waves at the main beach, surrounded by lush jungle scenery.
Isla Coiba Day Trip – Taking a boat out to Isla Coiba National Park for snorkeling and wildlife spotting was an unforgettable adventure. The marine life here is incredible.
Chill Beach Days – Some afternoons were spent simply lounging on the soft sand, watching the waves, and enjoying the peaceful vibe of the town.
Local Eats – We loved the small beachfront restaurants serving fresh seafood and tropical drinks—it felt like paradise with every meal.
Sunsets – The sunsets over the Pacific here are magical, best enjoyed from the beach with a cold drink in hand.
Best Hotel:
Selina Santa Catalina – We stayed here and loved the mix of comfort, jungle surroundings, and beachfront access. Perfect base for both surf and relaxation.
