Playa Cocles is one of our favorite spots if you just want to chill on a beautiful, uncrowded beach. The sand is soft, the waves are perfect for a bit of swimming or beginner surfing, and the vibe is super laid-back — everyone’s just relaxing and enjoying the sun.

We loved walking along the shoreline, checking out the palm trees and jungle that comes right up to the beach, and spotting a few locals surfing or playing volleyball. There are a handful of small restaurants and cafés nearby, so you can grab a cold drink or a bite to eat without ever leaving the area.

There’s no entry fee, and parking is usually easy if you’re driving. If you’re looking for a chill, scenic beach with a relaxed local vibe, Playa Cocles is a perfect spot to spend a morning or afternoon.
