If you’re in Juayúa or Santa Ana and want a fun outdoor adventure, the Seven Waterfalls (Los Chorros de La Calera) are something you shouldn’t miss. It’s an incredible set of waterfalls and a unique experience where you literally scale up the face of some of the falls!

Getting there from Juayúa is easy. It’s just a short drive or a walk uphill (about 20–30 minutes) from the center of town. Once you reach the start of the trail, you follow a path that leads you past seven separate waterfalls and pools, each one a bit different and worth stopping at. Alternatively you can organise day trips from Santa Ana (we chose this) or even San Salvador (it'll be a big day from San Salvador!).

The hike isn’t too hard, but you’ll want shoes that can get wet and that are sturdy because you’ll be crossing shallow streams, walking on rocks and some of the paths can be slippery (also bring a waterproof bag because your things will likely get wet). When you reach each waterfall, the water is cold and clean - perfect for a quick dip between hiking! The pools vary in size, so some are better for a quick cool-off, and others are deeper if you want to swim. The final pool was the best to swim in where we spent the most time.

It’s one of the best outdoor experiences around Juayúa and it makes a great half-day trip if you want something active and scenic while you’re in town or full day trip from other destinations.
