We stayed at El Pital on Ometepe in one of their beautiful treehouse private rooms, and honestly, it was such a unique experience. Waking up surrounded by the jungle, hearing the birds, and sipping coffee in your own little treehouse felt like something out of a dream.
While we were there, we did the chocolate tour and got to see how they make chocolate from local cacao — it was fascinating and fun. The highlight had to be trying the Mayan ritual chocolate drink; it’s rich, spicy, and unlike anything we’d ever tasted. We also tried a few of their handmade chocolate bars and truffles, which were unreal.
Prices for the treehouse rooms are around 70–120 USD per night, and the chocolate experiences are included with your stay or around 5–10 USD if booked separately. If you’re on Ometepe and want an unforgettable stay, delicious local chocolate, and a little jungle magic, El Pital is absolutely worth it.
