If you’re visiting Cocora Valley, the anticlockwise trail head is a great starting point for exploring this incredible area. This trail takes you through lush cloud forests, across rivers, and past the towering wax palms that the valley is famous for — it’s a photographer’s dream.
We loved that starting from the anticlockwise side gives you a nice gradual climb and some amazing viewpoints along the way. The trail is well-marked and lets you take your time to enjoy the scenery, spot hummingbirds, and even stop for a picnic in the middle of nature.
The hike usually takes around 4–6 hours round trip but we just did half of the hike up to the viewpoint, depending on your pace and how long you hang out at the viewpoints. There’s no entrance fee aside from the general park fee (around 5,000 COP). If you’re in Colombia and want a scenic, peaceful trek with jaw-dropping views of the wax palms, starting at the anticlockwise trail head in Cocora Valley is a must.
