Wandering down the Street of the Arts in San Juan was such a fun surprise. This colourful little street is packed with murals, handmade textiles, paintings, jewellery and small galleries, all created by local artists. Every few steps there’s something new to look at, and it really feels like the creative heart of the village.

What made it even better was how relaxed it felt. Artists are often sitting out the front working on their pieces, happy to chat about their process or where the designs come from. A great place to buy some souvenirs especially the painting so many incredible ones!

We loved just taking it slow here. Grab a coffee, browse the stalls, take a MILLION photos, and support local artists at the same time. If you’re visiting Lake Atitlán, San Juan is a must, and the Street of the Arts is easily one of the best places to feel the heart of the town.
