Boquete instantly became one of our favourite mountain escapes in Panama. Nestled in the highlands, this charming town is surrounded by lush cloud forests, volcanoes, and rivers, making it perfect for couples who love adventure, coffee, and nature.
Things We Loved in Boquete:
Hiking Volcán Barú – Hiking to the top of Panama’s highest peak was challenging, but the sunrise views over both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts were absolutely worth it.
Coffee Plantations – Touring local coffee farms and tasting some of the world’s best beans was such a unique experience—we loved learning about the process from bean to cup.
Waterfall Hikes & Hot Springs – Exploring nearby waterfalls and soaking in natural hot springs made for the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation.
Chill Town Vibes – Boquete’s small cafés, colorful streets, and relaxed pace made wandering the town a pleasure, especially for quiet mornings or afternoon coffee breaks.
Best Hotel:
The Haven Spa & Hotel – We loved staying here. The mountain views, cozy rooms, and peaceful surroundings made it the perfect base for exploring the highlands.
Tips for Visiting:
Best time: December to April for dry weather; mornings can be cool, so bring layers.
Getting there: About 6–7 hours from Panama City by car or shuttle.
Essentials: Hiking shoes, layered clothing, sunscreen, and insect repellent for jungle trails.
Boquete is the ultimate mountain getaway. Between volcano hikes, coffee tours, waterfalls, and cozy stays at The Haven, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to slow down and enjoy every moment together.
