We’d absolutely recommend the Museum of Contemporary Art and Oaxaca Cultures (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca) if you’re in Oaxaca de Juárez and love art and culture with a local twist. It’s a vibrant museum housed in a beautiful colonial‑era building right on Macedonio Alcalá Street in the historic centre, and it does a great job blending Oaxaca’s creative energy with contemporary art from Mexican and international artists. You’ll find rotating exhibitions of paintings, sculpture, installations, photography and more, and the space itself with airy courtyards and stone archways is really photogenic.

Prices are tiny compared to big city museums at just around 20 MXN for general admission (local discounts and free entry on some days like Sunday are common), so it’s a super affordable cultural stop in town.
