Welcome to the Valley of the Souls, a truly otherworldly landscape right on our doorstep. Here, a dense forest of rock spires, sculpted by wind and rain, reaches for the sky. Local legend says these are petrified souls, and as you walk among them, you'll feel the powerful, mysterious energy of the Andes. The main trail is a challenging 10km (6.2-mile) loop that takes you high into the canyon for breathtaking views over La Paz. Given the altitude climbs to around 4,300 meters (14,100 feet), you'll want to be well-acclimatized before you set off on the roughly five-hour trek. There's a small entrance fee of 5 Bolivianos collected by the local community.
