If you’re looking for a quick nature escape in Panama City, Ancon Hill is perfect. It’s a big hill right in the city where you can hike up and get incredible panoramic views of the skyline, the canal (we did this instead of visiting the panama canal), and even the surrounding mountains. It feels like a little hidden oasis away from the hustle and bustle.
We loved the hike because it’s fairly easy but still gives you a good workout. Along the way, you’ll see tropical trees, birds, monkeys and even SLOTHS, if you’re lucky. At the top, the view is seriously epic — perfect for photos or just standing in awe of the city and a great view of the canal.
The hike usually takes about 1–2 hours round trip, and there’s no entry fee. Best time to go is early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat and catch the best light. If you’re in Panama City and want a short adventure with amazing views and a bit of wildlife, Ancon Hill is totally worth it.
