If you’re looking to escape the city and get some fresh mountain air, Cerro Verde National Park is the perfect spot. Nestled high in the mountains, the park has lush forests, walking trails, and incredible viewpoints overlooking volcanoes and valleys. It’s a peaceful place to hike, explore, or just breathe in the crisp air away from the hustle and bustle.
We took a guided hike up the mountain through our hostel, it was very cheap because we took the local bus there and then you can hire guides to take you up the mountain.
We loved taking a stroll along the trails and seeing the views of Izalco, Santa Ana, and Cerro Verde volcanoes all in one panorama. There are also some beautiful spots to stop for a picnic or take photos, and the cooler climate makes it a refreshing change from the lower lands. Wildlife is around too — we spotted birds, butterflies, and even a few small mammals while walking the paths.
Entrance costs around 3–5 USD per person, and it’s easy to get there by car or organized tour from Santa Ana or nearby towns. Whether you’re into hiking, photography, or just soaking up nature, Cerro Verde National Park is a must-visit for its epic views, fresh air, and peaceful vibe.
