If you’re in San Cristóbal de las Casas and want somewhere fun to relax with a drink after exploring the cobblestone streets, La Viña de Bacco is one of our favourite spots. It’s a lively wine bar and tapas hangout right on Real de Guadalupe where you can sip wine from Mexico and beyond at really good prices — glasses often start around 30–40 MXN so SUPER CHEAP — and they usually complimentary delicious snacks like palomitas and small tapas with your drink. The outdoor seating and bohemian vibe make it feel vibrant but relaxed, and it’s an easy place to chat with locals or make new friends while you enjoy a glass in the afternoon or evening.

Grab a table outside on the andador and stay for a few different pours so you can sample a range and soak up the atmosphere. Reviews are mostly glowing about the wine selection, friendly service and value, though some people rate food higher than others, so it’s best known as a great wine and social spot more than a full dinner destination.
