Tequila completely surprised us. This small town just outside Guadalajara is the birthplace of Mexico’s famous spirit, and the whole place smells like agave and adventure. It’s colorful, lively, and full of history — perfect for a day trip.

Things We Loved in Tequila:

  • Distillery Tours – Visiting famous distilleries like José Cuervo and Casa Herradura was so much fun. We loved learning about how tequila is made, tasting different varieties, and sipping together in the agave fields.

  • Agave Fields – Driving through the endless blue-green agave fields felt surreal. It’s hard not to stop for photos at every corner!

  • Town Centre & Plazas – Wandering the colorful streets, admiring the murals, and stopping at cafés and local markets made the town feel lively and charming.

  • Tequila Tasting & Mezcal – Sampling tequila and mezcal in small bars gave us a true taste of local culture, and we loved chatting with locals about their traditions.

  • Day Trips & Views – Riding around the surrounding countryside and visiting small villages made for a relaxed, scenic day.

Tips for Visiting:

  • Best time: November to April for dry weather.

  • Getting there: About 1–1.5 hours from Guadalajara by car or shuttle.

  • Essentials: Sunscreen, hat, comfortable walking shoes, and a camera — you’ll want it for the agave fields and colorful streets.
