If you visit Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, plan about 1 to 2 hours to see the main museum and its famous murals by Diego Rivera, Rufino Tamayo and others. Buy tickets in advance if you want to catch an opera or ballet, because performances often sell out; museum entry is modest but can get busy on weekends so go early. There is a security bag check at the entrance, photography without flash is usually allowed in public areas but tripods and professional equipment may be restricted, and you should travel light and keep your belongings close. It sits beside Alameda Central and is an easy walk from the Zócalo, so combine it with nearby sites and wear comfortable shoes.
