We stayed at Bambuda Castle and honestly, it was insane. The place is like something out of a movie, with castle-style architecture right on the water, giving it such a unique, tropical vibe. The views are epic, and it’s full of other young travelers looking to have fun, so the energy is always buzzing.
The common areas are perfect for hanging out, meeting people, and enjoying the sun, and the food is actually really solid for a hostel — big portions, tasty meals, and perfect after a day exploring Bocas. We loved chilling on the decks and watching the boats go by while swapping travel stories with everyone staying there.
Fun Fact: The whole place is set up to look and feel like a real castle, and that’s because the founders — two friends from Calgary who wanted to build a lifestyle project full of adventure and fun — bought the property when it was the only castle for sale in Central America and turned it into this unique hostel and social hub. They literally remodeled a private residence into a hostel full of personality and character, and the castle vibe just stuck because it’s so different and memorable.
Dorm beds usually go for around 20–30 USD per night, with private rooms closer to 40–60 USD, depending on season. If you’re in Bocas and want a totally unique, social stay with amazing views and that classic tropical party vibe, Bambuda Castle is an absolute must.
