Cenote Zací is the large, semiopen cenote in the center of Valladolid, Yucatán, Mexico, so you can easily walk there from town. Get there early for clearer water and fewer people, bring cash for the small entrance fee and for snacks or lockers, and wear a swimsuit and water shoes because the steps can be slippery. Use biodegradable sunscreen or rinse before entering, be cautious around jumping spots since depths vary, and expect cool, shaded water that’s great for a quick dip rather than a long swim. Plan about 45 to 90 minutes so you can change, swim, and grab a bite in town afterward.
