Hanging Rock in Victoria, Australia, is a really cool spot, and it’s not just because of its unique volcanic origins. Standing at 718 meters above sea level, this rock formation is famous for its striking silhouette and stunning views. The surrounding park is a beautiful natural area with a lot of history, including its cultural significance to the indigenous tribes who were displaced in the 19th century and still hold a spiritual connection to the land.

The Hanging Rock Summit Walk is a must-do if you’re in the area. The 3.8-kilometer loop trail is moderately challenging with some steep bits, but the panoramic views from the top make it totally worth the effort. It usually takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to complete, and the views of the Macedon Ranges and the countryside are pretty spectacular.

The park is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, so make sure you plan your visit within those hours. I learned this the hard way, got caught at the summit around 4:45 PM and had a ranger come up to tell me the park was closing. Oh there is also a $5 parking fee per vehicle, which goes towards maintaining the park.
