The Sentinel Rock Walk in Westland Tai Poutini National Park is a nice little spot just a short drive or walk from Franz Josef township. It’s an easy 20-minute walk that rewards you with cracking views of Franz Josef Glacier and the Waiho River below. Along the way, there are some cool info panels showing how the glacier has been retreating over the years, which really puts nature’s power into perspective. Definitely worth a quick stop if you’re in the area.
