Cape Hillsborough is a captivating spot where natural beauty meets wildlife magic. At sunrise, this coastal gem offers a unique and enchanting experience, free kangaroo feeding right on the beach.
As the first light of dawn breaks, painting the sky in stunning hues of pink and orange, you’ll stroll along the soft, sandy shore. It’s here that friendly kangaroos make their morning appearance, joined by a ranger who feeds these adorable roos. The chance to see these gentle creatures up close, against the backdrop of the golden sunrise, is truly breathtaking.
However, be aware that the experience can sometimes be a bit of an Instagram vs. reality moment. While social media might showcase serene, uncrowded scenes, you might find yourself among a crowd of fellow travelers. During my visit, there were about 50 people gathered around just two kangaroos. That said, other travelers have shared that they encountered fewer people and more kangaroos on their visit.
Despite the crowds, witnessing the sunrise and interacting with kangaroos is a memorable start to the day. It’s a must-visit spot, offering a blend of tranquil beach views and delightful wildlife encounters.
