Rawhiti Cave, also called Manson Cave, is tucked away in the Dry Creek Valley near Tākaka on the South Island. It’s known for having one of the largest cave entrances in New Zealand, with cool stalactites and some rare phytokarst formations near the entrance. The cave’s been around for over a million years and has been drawing visitors since the early 1900s.

Getting there involves about a 1-hour walk each way to soak in the natural beauty of this unique spot. Definitely worth it if you’re into geology or just love exploring off-the-beaten-track places.
