This place is such a vibe. The Secret Sauna is tucked right on the edge of Lake Hāwea, and it’s honestly one of the most scenic spots you’ll ever sit and sweat in NZ. You get uninterrupted views over the lake and mountains while you rotate between a toasty wood-fired sauna and cold plunges in the lake.

You can book private sessions or join a shared one, and either way, the hosts are super lovely and make you feel right at home. There’s a chill little lounge area too, where you can sip tea and take in the views between rounds. It’s a full-on relaxation reset and a really cool way to connect with nature, especially on a cold morning or after a big hike.

Shared sauna sessions are priced at $30 for 1 hour or $55 for 2 hours per person. Private sessions are also available for groups seeking a more exclusive experience.
