This is one of the best budget bases around Wānaka. Albert Town Campground is huge, right by the Clutha River, and only $11 a night. It's self-registration and super relaxed,  no bookings, just roll in, grab a spot, and pay at the machine near the entrance.

The setup’s pretty basic, you’ve got long-drops, water taps, rubbish bins, and some picnic tables. No power or kitchen, and no showers, but don’t stress, there’s a laundromat across the road called The Missing Sock where you can grab a hot shower for a few bucks.

It’s an awesome spot for a night or two if you’re doing Wānaka on a budget, and way less crowded than the town holiday parks.
