This walk is a chill little 5km return track from Franz Josef village that takes you through the bush and out to an old suspension bridge over the Callery River. The bridge itself is a cool bit of history from the gold rush days, and it gives you a solid view down into the gorge.

Now, everyone talks about how blue the water is here, but when I went, it was completely grey! So don’t be too disappointed if it’s not that bright blue you see in photos. If it’s been raining recently (which it probably has on the West Coast), the colour changes a lot. Still a nice walk though and a good one to tack onto the Tatare Tunnels track since they share the same starting point on Cowan Street.
