Message from Castles of Scotland

Duncansby Stacks are three sandstone pyramids located close to the village of John O’ Groats. They reach out from the sea to heights over 60m, with the tallest stack, known as the Great Stack, standing above the height of the mainland. They were formed through coastal erosion over thousands of years and are a reminder of the evolving landscape of Scotland’s coastline.

The area is rich in wildlife, and visitors often catch glimpses of seabirds soaring around the cliff including puffins. The surrounding landscape is just as breathtaking, with rugged coastlines and rolling hills that add to the charm. It’s a great place to take a leisurely walk, soak in the views, and enjoy the fresh sea air.
