Nagwonjang feels more like an adventure than just a café stop. From the outside, it blends in with the other hanok buildings, but once you step in, it opens up into five floors of café space — from the basement all the way up to a rooftop terrace with views over the hanok rooftops. It’s the kind of place you can easily spend an afternoon, moving floors depending on your mood.

What to order:

  • The injeolmi salt bread is messy (powdered soybean everywhere) but so good — soft bread stuffed with injeolmi cream.

  • The custard cream salt bread is another must if you like that sweet-savory combo.

  • For something fun to photograph, grab the black cube croissant.

  • If you’re in the mood for savory, the chorizo sausage roll or olive cheese baguette are solid.

  • For dessert lovers, they’ve got everything from lemon tart to blueberry cheesecake, matcha tiramisu, and a jumbo egg tart that’s basically the size of your face.
