Things to Do in Itaewon
Antique Furniture Street (앤틱가구거리)
If you’re into vintage treasures and unique home finds, this street is a must. Lined with shops selling antique furniture, quirky collectibles, and retro pieces, it feels like stepping into a living design archive. Even if you’re not shopping, it’s fun to browse and wander. Twice a year, the area hosts a market where local vendors set up stalls — the vibe is lively and a little chaotic, but in the best way.

Wander the Hidden Alleys
One of the best things about Itaewon is what’s not on the main drag. Slip into the quieter alleys and you’ll find a totally different vibe: indie restaurants, small local shops, and cozy bars tucked away from the neon. On a sunny day, exploring these narrow streets feels like discovering Itaewon’s secret side — less noise, more character.
Itaewon Viewing Point
Climb up the hill for one of the best views over the city. From here, you can see across the Yongsan area and watch Seoul stretch endlessly into the distance. During the day, it’s a nice breather from the buzz below, but at night? The city lights up and the skyline feels magical. Winter evenings here are especially atmospheric.

Seoul Central Mosque (한국이슬람교 서울중앙성원)
Built in 1976, the Seoul Central Mosque is South Korea’s first mosque and a symbol of Itaewon’s diversity. Its Middle Eastern-style architecture stands out against the surrounding neighborhood, and the streets nearby are filled with halal restaurants and shops catering to Seoul’s Muslim community. Worth a visit if you want to experience Itaewon’s global culture beyond nightlife and shopping.

Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art (리움 삼성미술관)
For a dose of culture, head to the Leeum Museum, run by the Samsung Foundation of Culture. It’s a beautifully designed space that blends traditional Korean art with contemporary works, showcasing everything from ceramics to installations by modern Korean and international artists. Bonus: entry is free.

Hannam-dong (한남동)
Just a 10-minute walk from Itaewon, Hannam-dong feels like Itaewon’s more polished sibling. Think chic cafes, upscale boutiques, and a slower, more sophisticated vibe. It’s perfect for an afternoon coffee stop, window shopping, or people-watching. You’ll also find more luxury brands here compared to Itaewon’s eclectic mix.

When to Visit
Afternoons (Weekdays): Quieter and easier to explore the alleys, shops, and museums.
Evenings (Thurs–Sat): Itaewon comes alive. The energy is high, the bars are buzzing, and the food scene is in full swing.
Weekends: Expect crowds, especially late at night. If you’re after Itaewon’s famous nightlife, this is when to go.

⚡ Insider Tips for Itaewon
It’s hilly. Wear comfortable shoes.
Expect crowds at night. Itaewon comes alive after dark, so be prepared for noise, BBQ smells, and the occasional drunk wanderer.
Diversity is the vibe. You’ll find people from all over the world here — it’s one of Seoul’s most international districts.
Stay open-minded. Itaewon can be gritty in spots (graffiti, older buildings, trash pickup quirks), but that’s part of its character.
