Baegak (Bugaksan) Mountain Trail is one of the most rewarding hikes in central Seoul — a mix of history, politics, and mountain views. You’re literally walking the same ridge that once protected the Joseon capital, with the Blue House right at your feet.

Hiking Tips

Baegak Mountain Trail of Seoul City Wall

  • Distance: 4.7 km (~3 hrs)

  • Elevation: Bugaksan Peak at 342m (highest of Seoul’s four inner mountains)

  • Trail: Steep climb at the start from Changuimun (30–60 min of stone steps & wooden stairs). Panoramic views over Seoul once you hit Baegangmaru.

  • You can exit the hike at Sukjeongmun Information Center after Sukjeongmun Gate (& get a taxi), Malbawi Information Center or continue on to Hyehwamun Gate with more transport options.

💡 Pro Tip: If you want to avoid starting with a steep climb, begin from Hyehwamun Gate, Sukjeongmun Info Center, or Malbawi Info Center instead.
