Myeongdong is probably the most famous shopping district in Seoul — the streets are packed with international brands and enough glowing signs to make your head spin. As a first-timer, it’s fun to walk around and soak it all in, maybe pick up a few things while you’re here.

That said, don’t blow your whole shopping budget in Myeongdong. And make sure to save your appetite! Personally, I think the street food is overpriced and not that great, and there are much better spots in the city for both eating and shopping.

Treat Myeongdong as more of a cultural experience, then save the serious retail therapy for Seongsu or Hannam-dong — two neighborhoods later in this itinerary that have way more unique shops and cooler finds.
