Built into the rocks at Summerleaze Beach in 1930, Bude Sea Pool is a semi-natural tidal lido that fills twice daily with fresh Atlantic seawater — untreated, unheated and completely free to use. About 90 metres long and sheltered by the cliffs, it offers a safe place to swim away from the powerful Atlantic currents right alongside it. Open 365 days a year with no booking required, it’s kept going entirely by the Friends of Bude Sea Pool, a volunteer-run charity — a donation is always appreciated. Bracing, beautiful and genuinely one of a kind.
