A large natural rock pool on the north side of Treyarnon Bay, between Padstow and Newquay — one of the most accessible and best-loved tidal pools in Cornwall. About 12 metres across and up to 8 feet deep in places, it fills with fresh Atlantic seawater with each rising tide. Gently sloping sides make it ideal for children and families, and on sunny days the water turns a remarkable turquoise. Walk five minutes north from the Treyarnon Bay car park along the coast path and you’ll see it on your left among the low rocks. Dogs welcome all year. The YHA hostel café nearby is handy for post-swim hot chocolate.
