Another of my Top Picks and absolute must visit spots on Dartmoor is Foggintor Quarry!

This short and family friendly walk takes you along an abandoned tramway, with picturesque moorland all around you. After about a mile, you’ll reach the breathtaking quarry. What I love about it, is that it’s so hidden, you don’t know what to expect as you’re walking there, and then it just reveals itself and is such a wonderful surprise.

I have bought the paddle board here before, and people often swim here too. I personally wouldn’t overly recommend either. It’s super deep in places which makes the water VERY cold, and then there are shallow rocks as well so do bear that in mind.

The car park for this trail and small and nothing is signposted, but it’s a long the B332 and you’ll see a sign for Yellowmeade Farm. There is a small parking area on both the left and right side of the road.

Foggintor Quarry is truly such a special place. I hope you love exploring it as much as I do!
