The Featherbed Railroad is one of the most unique places to stay in Lake County, probably in all of California, to be honest! Instead of a traditional hotel room, you'll spend the night in a restored vintage caboose parked just steps from the shores of Clear Lake.

Outside your caboose, you'll find a giant tree swing overlooking the lake, complimentary kayaks to explore the water, and one of the friendliest resident cats in California, who even has her own tiny caboose! Yes, it's as cute as it sounds.

Every morning also starts with a complimentary homemade breakfast, which ended up being one of the highlights of our stay. And when you're ready to explore, you're just minutes from several excellent Lake County wineries, making this an easy weekend getaway.
