This is the best and most unique hike in Tofino!

The Canso Bomber Crash Site is where a Royal Canadian Air Force flying boat crashed during World War II. Despite carrying 1,000 pounds of explosives, all 12 passengers survived the crash landing. The wreckage still sits in the rainforest, making for a unique and slightly treacherous hiking adventure to reach it.

Visitors can explore the abandoned plane, take photos, and even have a picnic at this remote and historic site. The plane has degraded significantly over the years so please do not touch or climb on the plane. And as always, leave no trace.

You need to purchase a day pass to park at Radar Hill as the hike is part of the National Park.

This hike is MUDDY! Always. So you need to wear your gumboots! The second half of the hike is covered in boardwalks which is a treat!

AllTrails hike linked here. Use this for the best directions and a trail map.

The hike is rated as moderate. Length 7.6 km, Elevation gain 232 m, Route type Out & back.
