This lagoon opened in October 2025 and is conveniently located on the Golden Circle route! It is a luxury experience - a 2-story main lagoon with infinity edge, swim-up bar, sauna, cold pool, another small pool in the trees, a secluded grotto area, a cascading waterfall, and a restaurant headed by my friend, Gisli Matt (he's behind some of my favorite restaurants in Iceland, Skál! in Reykjavik, and næs in the Westman Islands).
There are three admission options:
Birki - standard admission, access to the main areas, does NOT include a towel (plan to bring your own)
Lerki - premium admission, includes the above amenities plus a towel and 1 drink a the swim-up bar
Ösp - 'wellness' admission, includes the above amenities plus a two course meal at the restaurant, Ylja
It would be reasonable to plan a visit to Laugarás Lagoon either at the beginning or end of a self-drive day tour around the Golden Circle, or take a slight detour here when driving between Reykjavik and Vík.
Remember that Iceland's geothermal waters are meant to be as clean and pure as possible. To prevent water contamination and also keep our pools clean without using harsh chemicals, you MUST shower fully nude, and wash yourself thoroughly BEFORE entering the water.
