Volcanic Lake that is often referred to as the Dragon Eye. This place is located in the highlands, close to lake Þórisvatn and Þóristindur mountain. This place is a summer location only, with the accessible season being around June to October, depending on conditions in the highlands. Best to take road F228 in direction of Veiðivötn. As far as I remember, there are no real river-crossings to get to the crater, but if you continue towards Veiðivötn, there will be a decent rivercrossing coming up very soon after the crater. Do not attempt to cross this river unless you are well prepared, have a proper 4x4 that is approved for F-roads and know what you're doing. I recommend getting a car from ÍSAK 4x4 (you can find a discount code here on the guide) in order to book a 4x4 equipped with a snorkel. Enjoy!
