Hore Abbey, also known as St. Mary's, is a ruined Cistercian monastery located near the Rock of Cashel in County Tipperary, Ireland. Founded in 1270 by Archbishop David Mac Cerbaill, the abbey was generously endowed with land and benefices. The Archbishop's decision to evict the Benedictines and his clashes with local authorities added some drama to its history. Despite being dissolved in 1540, the monks continued to serve the local parish, and the site later became private dwellings. The unique layout of Hore Abbey, with the cloister to the north, sets it apart from other Irish Cistercian monasteries.
