Kilcrea Friary, also known as Mainistir Chill Cré, is a medieval abbey in County Cork, Ireland. Built in the mid-15th century by Observant Franciscans at the invitation of Cormac Láidir MacCarthy, it served as a refuge from English troops. Despite being attacked and damaged multiple times, the friary remained active until the 1620s. The site, which includes Kilcrea Castle, is now a peaceful burial ground with notable interments like Cormac Laidir MacCarthy and Art Ó Laoghaire. The ruins feature a chapel, cloisters, and a tower with winding stairs, offering a glimpse into Ireland's rich history and architectural heritage.
