Northern Lights Viewpoint
Sightseeing
Directions

This rest stop at the lake is perfect for a stop when you decide to go Northern Lights hunting yourself. Easy accessible and always cleared from snow. In mid winter you can step on the frozen lake and get a bit away from the crowds. If you aren't familiar with ice safety and conditions, it's recommended to stay on the shore!

This place is marketed as a good view point, so it tends to get rather busy. Tour companies and busses happen to use this place quite often. If you are looking for a quit, secluded place, then it's best to move on from this one. But it's a great starting point to have a quick look at the sky, or if the lights are already dancing in the sky and you want to keep the night short.

NOTE

  • Never go on the ice when you are not familiar with the ice conditions and safety.

  • Turn your car lights off to keep it pleasant for other people as well.

  • In extreme cold conditions, keep the car running so you won't have any issues starting it again. Plus it offers a great place to warm yourself up.

  • When Northern Lights hunting its recommended to keep extra warm clothes in the car, a headlight and phone charger.
