Step into one of Central America's last great tropical dry forests at Santa Rosa National Park, a place where history and nature are deeply intertwined. You can wander through the historic La Casona hacienda, the site of a pivotal 1856 battle, before exploring trails that suit any pace. Keep an eye out for white-faced monkeys and a vibrant array of birds as you walk paths ranging from easy, accessible loops near the entrance to more adventurous hikes into the wilderness. The park offers a unique blend of cultural heritage and wild, untamed landscapes, all just a short drive from the main highway.
Santa Rosa protects tropical dry forest, a rare ecosystem where many trees lose their leaves in the dry season (December–April). This creates an almost savanna-like landscape with excellent wildlife visibility.
The Santa Rosa sector has around 30 km of trails through dry forest and viewpoints.

Green season (May–Nov)
lush vegetation
more insects and muddy roads
Morning visits are best because wildlife is more active and temperatures are cooler.
