Welcome to the dramatic coastline of Arnarstapi, a place where the raw power of the Atlantic has carved stunning sculptures from volcanic rock. You'll want to follow the easy, well-trodden coastal path that winds its way from the tiny harbour towards the neighbouring village of Hellnar. Along this 2.5 km (1.5 mile) trail, you'll discover the magnificent Gatklettur, a perfect stone arch, as well as countless sea stacks and basalt columns teeming with birdlife in the summer. The walk itself is mostly flat and takes about an hour or two for the round trip, giving you plenty of time to soak in the views of the Snæfellsjökull glacier on a clear day.
