The Cape Reinga Lighthouse is the Northern Terminus of the Te Araroa Trail and starting point for those walking the trail southbound (SOBO) towards Bluff.

From the carpark it is a short and easy stroll to the iconic lighthouse with breathtaking views of the northern coast. Here you will witness the powerful meeting of the Tasman Sea and Pacific Ocean, experience Māori cultural significance and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding area before officially stepping onto the Te Araroa trail.

There are toilets at the lighthouse carpark but no shops so make sure to arrive prepared with everything you’ll need to start the trail and of course don’t forget to take the iconic TA starters photo with the signpost at the lighthouse before heading out!
