Kleinrivier – The Ultimate Eastern Cape Escape! ⛰️

One of our absolute favourite hidden gems in South Africa, Kleinrivier is a mountain lover’s dream! 🫶🏼 With breathtaking mountain pools, epic hiking trails, and stunning accommodations, this spot is pure magic.

We stayed at Black Eagle Tented Camp, a private glamping retreat for up to 8 guests. Each of the 4 en-suite tents is surrounded by nature, with a full kitchen, lounge, dining area, fireplaces (indoors & out), and a private swimming pool. No 4x4 needed, just a high-clearance vehicle, and a short 5-minute walk from the car park. Pack your hiking boots—you won’t want to miss the incredible trails!

For the adventure seekers, Stone Mountain Lodge is an incredible overnight stop on the Two Gorges Trail (21km, 6-8hrs one way). This rustic cabin sleeps 7 and offers hikers a fireplace, hot showers, cooking facilities, and a crystal-clear mountain pool. It’s a challenging but unforgettable hike—trust us, once you get there, you won’t want to leave! 😍⛰️
