Relatively easy walk with lots of stairs and great views at the top

Further information: Climb to the top of Mt Manaia and take in the stunning vistas of Whangarei-Terenga-Paraoa! This steady climb up takes you through native bush, filled with nīkau palms, kauri stands and northern rātā. Once you make it to the summit at 420m above sea level, you can bask in the beauty of this dramatic harbour entrance. Along the way, look out for the fossil beds leftover from ancient small streams, and be sure to read about the craggy peaks that represent Mount Manaia's family who were turned to stone through karakia!
