The UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein in Essen, Germany is an industrial complex of remarkable importance. It illustrates the evolution and decline of coal mining over the past 150 years, featuring its complete infrastructure and several buildings of outstanding architectural merit from the 20th century. The complex is an example of the design concepts of the Modernist Movement, as well as one of the most advanced coal mines in the world at the time of its operation from the mid-19th to 1986. A must for anyone interested in a journey through history!
