The Paine Grande Shelter, situated on the shores of Lake Pehoé in Torres del Paine National Park, serves as a crucial hub for hikers exploring the park's famous W Circuit. This shelter is notable for its strategic location, providing access to iconic sites such as the Grey Glacier and Valle del Francés. It accommodates around 100 hikers across 22 dormitory rooms with various bunk configurations and offers beautiful views of Pehoé Lake, Paine Grande, Valle del Francés, or Cuernos del Paine. The shelter features shared bathrooms with independent showers offering hot water, and amenities include a restaurant, a bar with stunning views, lounges with slow combustion heating, and a shop for essentials and souvenirs. For campers, there's a camping area with tent rentals available, along with a grocery store for supplies. This blend of facilities caters to both the communal spirit of hiking and the needs for comfort and convenience, making it a pivotal stopover for trekkers navigating the rugged terrains of Torres del Paine.
