Initially a central hub due to silver ore mining, it later became a key location for the Swedish Tourist Association, with hiking trails and cabins established in the late 19th century. In 1928, Kvikkjokk Fjällstation was set up as a base for exploring Lapland's stunning mountains, making it an ideal starting point for both leisurely day trips and more challenging hikes. One doesn't have to book a room there to enjoy the beautiful views and hikes. Right behind the building there is a charming waterfall. This place is like halfway of Kungsleden and serves as a starting/finishing point for hikers.
