Skotel Alpine Resort is a cozy alpine retreat located in the heart of Tongariro National Park, with a range of accommodations from standard queen rooms to family suites at affordable prices.

We stayed here with a big group of friends to do the Tama Lakes / Taranaki Falls walk which starts right at their carpark! With stunning views of Mount Ruapehu and a few short walks from the doorstep, its a cozy and great place to stay. The 'resort' features a restaurant, bar, spa, sauna, and free WiFi, making it a perfect base for exploring the surrounding area.

From their website: 'Skotel Alpine Resort is situated in Whakapapa Village and is the closest hotel to Mount Ruapehu ski field and Tongariro Alpine Crossing.  As well as the many hiking trails starting from our front door including Tama Lakes, Northern Circuit, Taranaki Falls, Silica Rapids and Ridge Track. Skotel is also the closest hotel to Sky Waka, Skyline Walk, Meads Wall and Waterfalls Descent.'
