A forest so magical it feels like the trees might start whispering.
Tucked near the base of Mount Taranaki, this short, winding bush walk pulls you straight into the heart of the so-called “Goblin Forest.” Officially known as the Kamahi Loop Track, it’s a lush, mossy world of twisted trunks, ferny shadows, and misty air—a fairytale forest come to life.
The track itself is a gentle 600-metre circuit that takes just 15–30 minutes, but it’s worth slowing down and soaking it in. Kamahi trees curve and lean like old watchmen, cloaked in moss and surrounded by birdsong. The path is a mix of gravel and boardwalk, well-marked and easy to follow, with minimal elevation change.
📍 Begins near Stratford Mountain House in Egmont National Park
