The most beautiful underwater world in Rarotonga, where the resident turtles and eagle rays live (plus harmless sharks, puffer fish and SO many more!).
We are oh so lucky to have worked in this passage (so we know/understand it) and can freedive confidently, so we get to dive here often. It is one of the draw cards that keeps us coming back to Rarotonga. However, we have also had alot of scary, close calls! This passage is NO JOKE!!
So unless you are at a professional freediving level - with free diving gear AND you go with an experienced local (as they know how to read the currents, tides, know where to safely enter and exit etc etc), only only only go with a tour company. People die in passages every year by simple being sucked out to the ocean.
